Contact Lenses Material Classification
Contact lenses are made according to human's shape of cornea, which is direcntly adhere to the surface of eye's tear film layer,so that to correct the vision. In 1948, there was a modern corneal contact lenses born. And in 1960, Otto Wichterle and Lim developed the first pair of soft contact lenses.Since then, the materials of contact lenses have undergone several leaps, from hydrogels, silicone hydrogels, to the current super-hydrogels.
So we can divide the contact lenses into two classifications, one is hard lenses ,the other is soft lenses. For the hard lenses, because of its hardness, brittleness and poor plasticity, which makes users feel so extremely uncomfortable that the type of lenses is limited to apply. Therefore,we often use the soft lenses in our daily life, due to its softer and more elastic nature ,users will feel more comfortable. However, soft leneses are more pron toadsorbing deposits, and have a shorter lifespan than hard lenses.
